The Carolina Hurricanes recognized local USA U-19 Cricketer Smit Doshi by having him sound the “Storm Siren” to announce the start of the second period of last week’s NHL contest vs the Ottawa Senators in front of 10,817 fans. Dozens of members of the local Triangle Cricket League were in attendance to celebrate Smit and enjoy TCL Night.
“Recognition from an NHL team like our local Carolina Hurricanes is good for the game of cricket, and good for our young athletes,” said TCL President Jana Challaperumal. “We hope a continued relationship with the Hurricanes will generate more exposure and interest in cricket in the area.”
This recognition comes on the heels of a recent USA Cricket Youth Combine, held in Raleigh, North Carolina which saw a wonderful turn-out of talented young cricketers from across the East Coast who came together to try-out for future USA youth representative sides.
