Bio

Growing up in Mumbai, India, Akshatha Rao started playing cricket as a teenager in the streets of Mumbai and later at the Karnataka Institute of Cricket (KIOC) in India. She first played leather ball cricket at age 23.

The right-arm off-spinner is affectionately known to her teammates as Aks and admires Nathan Lyon, Deepti Sharma, Graeme Swann. She has represented Northern California Cricket Association and Atlantis Cricket Club – NY at the USA domestic level. She considers it an honor to represent the USA and the opportunity to set the stage for the next generation of female cricketers whom she hopes will take the sport forward in the USA.

Aks is very self-motivated and constantly working on creating a better version of herself through fitness, skills improvement, and her mental approach to the game. She enjoys the rush she gets from delivering a match-winning performance and the joy of traveling and creating memories with her teammates. The wily off-spinner’s favorite USA cricketing moment is her capturing back-to-back wickets on the first and second deliveries of her T20 international debut for the USA at the 2019 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Scotland.
