It came right down to the wire in Sydney but the Cricket New South Wales Women’s XI prevailed by 6 wickets with just 1 over to spare in a great game today at the Ruby Oval.

Having lose the toss and been tasked with batting first, the USA Women scored 97 for 3 in their 20 overs, led by a fine 38 from opening batter Sindhuja Reddy. Onika Wallerson also chipped in with 17 not out to ensure the visitors posted a competitive total.

The second innings was a tight affair from start to finish, with none of the NSW batters making more than the 18 by Hayley Silver-Holmes. The USA took wickets at crucial junctures to keep themselves in with a sniff, but in the end didn’t quite have enough runs to defend and the Australia Under 19 Twenty20 Captain, Saskia Horley seeing the New South Welsh Women home.

Uzma Iftikhar was the standout with the ball taking 2 for 17 from her 4 overs, whilst Claudine Beckford and Sugetha Kalyanaraman chipped in with 1 wicket a piece.

Congratulations & well played to our hosts! The team’s will face off again tomorrow at the same venue with an earlier start time of 9.30am local time, 7.30pm EST and we’ll have live ball-by-ball scoring again the USA Cricket Match Center.
