– Maiden USA ODI call up for Yasir Mohammad with potential ODI debuts for the 19 year old Mohammad and the 17 year old Rahul Jariwala
– Team USA recall fast bowler Cameron Stevenson after two year absence
– Back to back home, ODI series will see the USA play 8 One Day Internationals at the Moosa Stadium in Texas with critical CWC League 2 points up for grabs

The USA Cricket National Selection Panel has named a 14-man squad to represent the United States of America in the crucial upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 series in Texas from May 28th to June 15th. The squad is captained by Monank Patel, who took over as Team USA Captain across all formats ahead of the Ireland series in December 2021.

After an impressive start to his T20I career in the same series, Yasir Mohammad is called into the ODI squad for the very first time. There is also a recall for Cameron Stevenson, who last played for the USA in Nepal in February 2020.

Ali Khan is named in the squad, having returned to the One Day International squad for the first time in three years for the covid abandoned ODI series vs Ireland in Florida. The Player of the Tournament at the Men’s National Championships 2021, Sushant Modani, is also in the squad, as is the leading run-scorer at that same tournament, the 17-year-old Rahul Jariwala, who is in line for a first-ever appearance for the USA senior men’s team.

Chair of the Men’s National Selection Panel, Michael Voss, said, “The selection panel has predominantly stayed with a similar squad to that chosen for the Ireland series in December that  rewarded the performances  of several players who shone at the USA Cricket National Championships in November 2021. The form and performances at the recent training camp in Texas were also considered with Yasir Mohammad coming into the ODI squad for the first time. The squad has a nice balance of youth and experience, and we’re particularly pleased to see the fast bowling stocks in good order with Ali Khan in his local conditions and a return for Cameron Stevenson giving us plenty of options alongside Saurabh Netravalkar and Rusty Theron who were both outstanding in Texas last month.”

Richard Done, USA Cricket Operations Director, added, “We have 20 One Day Internationals and a global T20 World Cup Qualifier over the next eight months, giving us the kind of opportunities that many associates could only dream about in times past. The goal remains a top-three finish in Cricket World Cup League 2 and automatic qualification to the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier next year. Still, we are acutely aware of the top five finish ensuring the retention of ODI status too. All eight matches on home soil are hugely important for the men’s national program.
