ROOKIE LEAGUE - BOWLING

1. Bowl a Goal

Teams attempt to bowl the ball between the goals. The ball must bounce once beyond the rope before passing between the cones for a goal to be scored. The first team to score 10 goals and call out ‘Howzat’ is the winner.

2. Catapult Lob

Split the participants into pairs. Partners face each other 10-12 yards apart and lob the ball to each other using a straight arm bowling action. Encourage participants to make the ball bounce once before reaching their partner.

3. Freeze Bowl Tag

In a defined area, one or two participants are chosen as taggers, while the rest try to avoid being tagged. When tagged, players must freeze and place one hand extended above their head. Other participants can ‘free’ those who have been tagged by high-fiving them using a straight-arm bowling action.

4. Knock 'em down, build 'em up

Participants work in pairs or teams. One participant from each group acts as a wicketkeeper. The rest must bowl at one or two sets of stumps, attempting to hit them. If the wickets are struck with the ball, then the wicketkeeper removes one stump, making the target smaller. The first team to remove all their stumps is the winner.

5. Rapid Fire Bowling

In pairs, bowlers are attempting to land the ball between the rope and the stumps. Bowlers and wicketkeepers switch after 6 deliveries. You can add a competitive element by declaring the first group to land the ball between the rope and the stumps 10 times as the winner.
