• The inaugural USA Cricket Zonal Youth Tournaments have begun in earnest this September across the United States
  • Team selection has concluded in most zones, with trials attracting healthy participation
  • A Steering Group has been established to offer the Zonal Working groups guidance and support

USA Cricket is pleased to announce that matches have been scheduled for the inaugural U13 and U15 Zonal pathway competitions across all 6 Zones. Matches are currently being arranged between the teams at the initial sub-zonal levels, with the first games having happened last weekend in a few places. All games can be followed on the USA Cricket match center via CricClubs. 

The Zonal Matches are scheduled as follows:

The West Zone U13 and U15 Competition – Sub-Zonal matches begin 9th September
The VOIP Office Midwest Zone U13 and U15 Competition – Intra-Zonal Matches to begin 17th September
The Nanban Southwest Zone U13 and U15 Competition – Sub-Zonal Matches begin 24th September
The Fillum East Zone U13 and U15 Competition – Intra-Zonal matches started 9th September
The Vitel Global Mid-Atlantic Zone U13 and U15 Competition – Sub-Zonal Matches started 9th September
The Kanini South Zone U13 and U15 Competition – Sub-Zonal Matches started 9th September

More than 70 teams, across the 6 USA Cricket Zones, will participate in the U13 and U15 competitions, giving hundreds of USAs most talented kids an opportunity to play meaningful games against their peers.

The Zonal Working Groups have done a tremendous job to organize and host trials in multiple locations across the country, with healthy numbers turning out at all locations.

The Zonal Working Group Chairs are as follows;

  • East Zone: Ashok Adikoppula
  • Mid-Atlantic Zone: Prem Nair
  • Midwest Zone: Ganesh Krishnamurthy
  • South Zone: Rajesh Uppalapati
  • Southwest Zone: Jagannath Poosarla
  • West Zone: Kinjal Buch

One of the key strategic choices outlined in USA Cricket’s Foundational Plan is to focus on Youth and Long-Term Development, while two of our key objectives are to grow engagement and increase participation. In line with these strategies and objectives, the new USA Cricket Zonal Youth Tournaments are a key development and something that will be a crucial progression for USA Cricket to support going forward.

USA Cricket have also formed a 2022 Steering Group who will act as advisors to the Zonal Working Groups in this inaugural year and offer their further guidance as USA Cricket look to expand the youth pathway in 2023 and beyond. The members of the group (listed below) have been chosen for their many years of service and experience in facilitating and growing successful youth programs/tournaments.
