• Paraag Marathe completes his tenure as Chairman of the USA Cricket Board, and will continue as an independent Board member until a replacement is found
  • Suraj Viswanathan and Ajith Bhasker are replaced on Board by Atul Rai and Kuljit Singh-Nijjar after recently concluded elections
  • Atul Rai to serve as the new interim Chairman of the Board with search for two new independent directors of USA Cricket to begin as soon as possible

After the recently concluded USA Cricket Elections with the results formally announced earlier in the month by the Nominating & Governance Committee (NGC). The USA Cricket Board met along with the newly elected members and as previously planned, Paraag Marathe stepped down as the Chairman and the Board has now appointed Atul Rai as the interim chair.

Outgoing Chairman Paraag Marathe said, “USA Cricket has made a lot of progress despite the many challenges since my first involvement with the sport back in 2018. I am very pleased that we were able to contribute positively in helping to build a foundation for the sport across the United States. As I stated back in May when I announced my transition plans, my foremost priority was to ensure a smooth transition and make sure the delayed elections were completed. With the new directors voted in and assuming leadership positions, I will continue to be a strong advocate for the growth of American cricket and look forward to seeing it succeed long into the future.”

New Interim Chairman Mr. Atul Rai said, “Cricket in America has come a long way in the past twenty years, and it is exciting to see the large number of young boys and girls who are now learning to play the game and wanting to represent the country. I am optimistic and hopeful that in the next ten years, with adequate planning and execution, we will see an exponential growth of the game both in quality and in quantity. I know that there are many challenges currently facing USA Cricket. However, I am confident that we will overcome them and continue to build a strong foundation for Cricket to become a mainstream sport in America. Finally, I would like to pay tribute to Paraag Marathe as our outgoing Chair for all his dedicated work in helping to grow the game. I also want to thank the two outgoing USA Cricket directors in Suraj Viswanathan and Ajith Bhaskar and thanks to all involved with USA Cricket for your contributions.”

The USA Cricket Board will now also ask the independent Nominating & Governance Committee (NGC) to commence a process to find two new independent directors to replace Paraag Marathe and Rohan Sajdeh.
