The former USA Captain, Sushil Nadkarni, will assume his position as League Director on the USA Cricket Board tomorrow replacing Atul Rai in accordance with the previous agreement that the original term would be split equally between the two.

USA Cricket would like to thank Atul Rai for his significant contributions to the USA Cricket Board and its various Committees since his appointment following the inaugural Board elections. He will complete his term as League Director and be replaced by Nadkarni with effect from Tuesday May 12th, who will assume the position until December 31st 2021.

Sushil Nadkarni, who is a partner in a global environmental consultancy in Texas, represented Team USA with great distinction for nine years beginning in 2006. He still holds the record for the highest-ever score for USA with 197 vs Suriname in 2008, the fastest hundred (101 not out off just 54 balls vs Cayman Islands), and the highest individual score of 223 in a National Tournament in 2008. He is the second leading run-scorer of all time in American colors, and, since his retirement from playing, he has been heavily involved in coaching and the development of youth cricket in the Houston region.

“We always knew that Atul and Sushil would share equally the full term of League Director after their tied vote in the election, and, in accordance with that arrangement,  Atul’s portion of that term has now come to an end” said USA Cricket Chairman Paraag Marathe

“On behalf of my fellow directors, I would like to thank Atul for his dedicated work as Chair of the Cricket Committee in, among other things, advancing the structures around our national teams and in advocating for the return of zonal and national domestic competitions which were announced earlier this year, as well as his contributions to the work of the USA Cricket Board more broadly.  I am sure that Atul will continue to prove to be an important source of experience and support to us all at USA Cricket moving forward.  At the same time, I welcome Sushil to the Board and look forward to his contributions over the coming months, particularly in the field of high performance, where he has significant knowledge and expertise, as well as youth development about which I know he is very passionate.”
